Robot Sounds 16

All Grand Theft Auto, all the gol-durned time! Join Mags, Nadine and D for this GTA-themed show, in which we reminisce about hookers we have loved and shot, and so forth.

Things we mention in the show: Dan Houser interview. The work on mastery vs. exploration I was thinking of may have been from Only a Game, but I’m unable now to find a specific article. However, there are many great articles on that site on that topic (not necessarily using those terms, however). This may be an interesting starting point.

Toku, Nadine and D discuss the news of the day, including Take-Two’s rejection of EA’s latest buy-out offer, WiiWare, and the value of unlockable content in games.

The music: the track “After Mars” by artist Mesu Kasumai is available here. And the last track is Twilight Electric’s “Body Parts” available here. Both are members of the artist group 8bitpeoples who are totally awesome and amazing. Check them all out!

Angry Robot Sounds 4

Recorded just after we played Halo 3 campaign for the first time, this episode naturally concerns Halo and only Halo. It’s not really a review since we didn’t finish the game, just the thoughts that came to mind.

Casting Out the Inner Eye of Judgement

After Angry Robot Sounds #2 I gave more thought to the things I had said about young gamers and gaming history. I began to look at my own view of gamers and how I judged them and myself into hardcore vs. casual, young vs. old and how that negatively affects how I view gamers in general. I’ve attached siginficance to those who have played more and given honour to what they played and knocked those who played things I deemed unplayable for myself. I began to realize that I ridicule different sections of gamers and I wanted to figure out why that happened. It was through looking at gimmick gameplay in Sony’s new game The Eye of Judgement that I began to see my old thought patterns returning and how I could challenge them and myself to see gaming in a new way.

Angry Robot Sounds #1

So we did a podcast, Nadine and I. Starts off with general gaming nonsense and then is all Halo 3, all the time for the rest of the half hour. This one is pretty rambly and chaotic, we’ll figure things out better next time, hopefully. Also, we recorded it on wednesday, and then I took forever to cut it down to a listenable length. But hell, you learn on your feet. I’ll update this with an iTunes link when it shows up.
