How to Win at Monopoly and Lose All Your Friends

Wow:

Monopoly was, in fact, a rip-off of “The Landlord’s Game”, a game designed decades earlier by Elizabeth Magie, a proponent of Georgism (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georgism). The game was designed to teach children about the inherent unfairness of the capitalist land-grabbing system, and demonstrate how it enriches landlords while impoverishing tenants. Interestingly, it also included rules for a co-operative, anti-monopolist “Prosperity Game”, in which victory was achieved when all players had at least double their original stake.

Why Media Titans Would Be Wise Not to Overlook Netflix

People are starting to notice.

“Because really, for Netflix to win, everyone else has to lose.” And that can’t happen. Right?

Fun mental exercise of the day: what audacious shit could Netflix do next? If they were going to buy a content company, who would it be? Would they ever buy the pipes? The screens? How about expanding to sports, news, live content? Would they get into other media – music, books?

The George Awakens

“It took a forgery to get him called an artist.”

Great article (thanks y). I’m one of those who views the prequels as a noble failure rather than something to be excised from the history books. (I can go on at length about how Sith is better than Jedi). I loved The Force Awakens upon first viewing, but as a kid I loved Jedi and was disturbed by Empire and now realize that Jedi wasn’t that great. Abrams aimed for the original but is dangerously close to Jedi, the original Star Wars remake.
