help wanted

I’m hoping to assemble a portal-ish thing, that would mix my favourite news sources with my favourite blogs, and I’m looking for advice and/or resources that may tell me more about RSS, XML and all that jazz. – Anyone know of anything, and I mean for Absolute Fucking RSS Morons? Drop me a line!

Try getting in contact with Ben Hammersley who has a blog on Content Syndication with XML and RSS – he seems like a top bloke and certainly knows about all that RSS XML shit.

Thanks, T – there’s some great stuff there. I’ve installed Ben Brown’s RSS Monkey and have pretty much got it working – I’m all excited and shit! Only problems being it works a bit slow, especially with the massive NYTimes feed… & it doesn’t display MetaFilter or Blogroots at all.

Anyway, it’s going to be pretty cool. I’m making the page a personal portal, really – feeds from the sites I check daily, a MT blog to manage bookmarks easily, and a few includes from the various blogs on this site. I’m in waaaay over my head and loving it.

Incidentally, if any fellow MT users are reading this, Robert Rainwater has a RSS feed MT plugin. I might have used this had I found it before RSS monkey.

RSS Monkey can be slooooooow…. I may have to retool the aggregator a touch, find another script or something. Oh well, yet another little project to fine-tune

Robert Rainwater’s site has vanished. Does anyone know if his RSS MT plugin exists elsewhere?

Tima continued work on it here.
